The Anayottam in Pidikkaparambu (elephant race) is the one and only kind of elephant race in the world where Gods and Goddessess atop elephants race from the adjoining field to the Pidikkaparambu temple to decide who will reach first.


Edakkunni Bhagavathy major participant of Arattu puzha - Perumanam pooram had pooram only in Arattupuzha and had only UTRAMPATTU next day at edakkunni.The UTRAM VILAKKU in its present form is only 150 years old.


Edakkunni Bhagavathy celebrates Uthramvilakku with Thaikkattussery Bhagavathy,Namkulam,Chittichathakudam and Chakamkulangara sasthas.In reciprocation Edakkunni bhagavathy attends their pooram also.
       
Elephants are an integral part of any pooram.The Uthramvilakku also does not differ.
A number of famous elephants have participated in the celebrations, some for years together.
